There is no better way to start your New Year celebration than with the high energy, foot-stomping sound of Level Ground (LG)! Once heard, you will understand why this home-grown band’s hypnotic harmonies, and unquestionable charisma has garnered a huge following that spans race, culture, and generations. Level Ground began as a Gospel ensemble, founded in June 2003 by musicians and songwriting couple, Trish Hodge-Washington and Robert Washington. In their first three months of performing around town, LG’s following grew much faster than expected with audiences as racially and culturally diverse as the rainbow. Upon realizing their wide-ranging appeal, Trish says, “Our foundation of DIVERSITY was born!”

Their audiences were as excited about their original material as their most popular cover tunes, which includes several timeless Soul and R&B hits of the 70’s…namely, Motown classics. Their original offerings became know as the “Level Ground Sound,” an eclectic mix of soothing Soul; dynamic R&B bass lines; and a hint of Rock combined with a contemporary Gospel flavor. This untapped mix, which Trish calls “Rhythm & Gospel,” is made bigger than life in the dynamic vocal styling of LG lead singers: George Payne, Tracy Moffett, Regina Allen, Sonia Evans, and Seanna Evans.

As LG’s mission of “Diversity in SONG, SOUND, and SPIRIT” catupulted them into the stratosphere, audiences would tout their performances as an experience far beyond the music. Among LG’s admirers and clientele are WFAA’s own longtime news anchor Gloria Campos; the family of international real estate developer Trammel Crowe; legendary boxer George Foreman; the National Council of Negro Women; the Dallas Baptist Association; and the Jewish Community Center of Dallas. That’s right…LG’s appeal is so boundless that it even transcends religious distinctions. In 2011, they were the main attraction at the Jewish Federation 100 Year Celebration Gala at the Hilton Anatole Dallas. In case you’re wondering…the answer is “YES!”, this African-American Gospel ensemble sings in Hebrew! As a result, LG has gained a loyal following in the Jewish community—both locally and worldwide.

As LG embarks upon another year of music-making, they will enjoy the fruit of their faithfulness and the payoff of perseverance with the release of their debut project, entitled “The Time Is Now!” Stay-tuned…there’s more to come!!!
